Wild Camp #20 Loving Creek
Loving Creek Camp is another great wild camp utilizing a section of the Wild Azalea Trail (WAT) mile 17. Due to its proximity to WAT access, it can be used as a base camp for hiking the WAT. Parking is off FSRD 243/Loving Creek Rd. The access point is located directly behind the parking point.
Wild camp is located off the WAT near the mile 17 mark. Terrain navigation is generally hilly of mixed pine/hardwoods. Loving Creek Camp has a difficulty rating of "Easy."
The campsite can accommodate 3-4 shelters and many hammocks. The hike-in from the access point to the wild campsite center is 0.8 miles, making this wild camp the second longest in the Kisatchie NF Wild Campsites. The water source is Little Loving Creek, which is small but clear and flowing. Waypoint coordinates and location bearings are included in the Wild Camp Report.
