Wild Camp #23 Savoie Bluff
Savoie Bluff Camp is a "Moderate" difficulty Camp with a view overlooking gently flowing McCall Creek - A true Getaway! It has the second longest hiking mileage as well as creekside access. The Campsite Center is nestled in a mature hardwoods nook off a giant bluff overlooking McCall Creek. Of the 0.7 miles of hiking on established trail, there are 306 yards of "Off-Trail" hiking. Parking is located off Roundtop Hill Rd. and can accommodate up to 3 vehicles. The hike-in is mostly mixed upland pine/hardwood timber. The water source is the wide and always flowing McCall Creek, which runs East & West alongside Hwy 98/84 through the Homochitto National Forest and is a direct offshoot of the Homochitto River System.
The camp can accommodate up to 3-4 shelters. The Hike is approx. 0.7 miles (one way) to Wild Camp Center from the starting point. Waypoint coordinates and location bearings are included in the Wild Camp Report.
