Wild Camp #8 Hog Heaven
Hog Heaven Camp is a unique Camp with creek access with a clear-cut (2021-2022) on the south side of the logging road in, making this a great camp to star gaze in the vast openness of the area. It has an "Easy" difficulty rating with adequate parking for up to 3 vehicles just off the shoulder of FSRD 102/Chapel Hill Rd. The hike-in is an actual logging road just beyond the parking area. A dirt berm generally blocks the logging road to keep vehicles out. The site is very hilly, with a short hike into camp. Wild Camp Center is just behind a marked slash scar tree just on the north side of the logging road. Campsite Center is just a tad sloped, making this site ideal for Hammock Campers. The Creek is accessible about 70- yards to the west of camp. Follow the small trail directly behind the tree with 3-red slashed Forest Service paint markings to the creek - it's a "Labyrinth" down there!
It can accommodate up to 4 shelters. The Hike along the logging road is approx. 700 yards to scarred tree & campsite. Waypoint coordinates and location bearings are included in the Wild Camp Report.
